Pretty Coffee

We tried a new cafe the other day and I was so impressed. Starbucks never did this for us. I ordered a plain hot chocolate and they served it to me. No waiting at the end of the counter for them to shout out my name. It was kinda nice. Well when my friend Kathy was served her drink I had to snap a picture of it. She ordered a Mocha Latte and look at how beautiful it is! I was stunned.

If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes I would have thought it was something out of a magazine. I think that we will be going there more often. The name of the place is Ballanos and it is wonderful.

Just wanted to share something pretty, hot and soothing today since it is so cold here and raining. .

Me, trying to be artistic

I made this sachet for my good friend Catherine who is here for a visit. I followed a pattern for the inside heart of the heart but felt what they had for the outside was not good enough, so I played and this is what I came up with. I think it looks pretty good. It is a one of a kind and I am not sure that I will make another.
I then wanted to make a pretty presentation so I went out to my rose garden and picked some roses and made this display and took photos. I also took one of the sachet alone.

I hope everyone had a great weekend and hope you have an even better week.

The Phantom Of The Opera (1925)

Relive the golden days of early cinema with Lon Chaney in his classic role in The Phantom of the Opera (1925). Dennis James plays the live musical accompaniment to this gem of the silent film era on our majestic, 9,000-pipe Ruffatti organ, the largest concert hall organ in North America.

A group of us are going to the San Francisco Symphony Hall on October 31st to see this old classic. This is a special movie for my husband and I as our wedding music was "All I Ask" from the movie. I'll be sure to post afterwards with pictures and lots of my opinion. :)

Hash Brown Soup you say?

Yes!! And what a soup it is. Easy to make and it is delicious. Sis found this gem while looking for another recipe. I have no idea if she found that other recipe but I think her shopping efforts were rewarded.

I messaged her yesterday and she told me right away about the recipe and that she had sent hubby out to get the ingredients that she needed. About 90 minutes later she was eating soup!! It looked good and I know this is crazy but,.........I think I could smell it through my monitor. *giggle* Well that was all it took. My tongue was hanging out for some so hubby and I went on a road trip. By 6:00 pm we were eating the most comforting soup.

I first had to take a photo so that sis could put it on her blog and I also submitted it to the site and they have approved it to be posted along with the recipe.

What a wonderful Sunday it was. Here is the url if you'd like to try the soup for yourself Hashbrown Soup. You can also get it at my sister site by using the link on the right hand side of my blog, Ghostie Stitcher.

*hugs* Have a great week everyone.

I have 16 of the 32 squares put together for the afghan I m making for my nephew Evan. I think I like it better now that it is together. At first I was not crazy about it but I must admit it looks pretty cool. So now I need to make the other 16 squares and add them all around and put some sort of edging on it and it will be finished. I hope to have it done by this coming weekend.

I hope all of you are having a great weekend. *hugs*

Doily Progress

So, here is how far I've gotten on the other doily I started. I again have ran out of thread. I really thought I had 2 balls of this color but could only find one. I will have to order more. *sigh* So that makes two that I am waiting to finish. I hope that I am still in the mood to finish them when I get the thread, we'll see.

This weekend we are hosting a party and the theme is Mexican Fiesta! I think it will be a great time. I am serving, home made tamales, home made refried beans and spanish rice. And Margaritas of course!! We have 14 coming so I am sure that a good time will be had by all.

Well I will close for now. I will post progress as it happens.

Cotton and Lace

Well, since I ran out of thread for the centerpiece I am working on and waiting for it to come in the mail I have finished a smaller project and started another Between Meal Centerpiece. Now mind you I did try to get more thread the other night when I ran out. After going to 2 different Michael's and 2 JoAnne's only to be disappointed because they do not sell AUnt Lydia;s thread. As matter of fact they only carried about 5 balls of Royale thread in black, white and beige. All the stores I went to were like this. *sigh* I also noticed that the yarn section is really getting small. It's a sad thing to see and notice.

So here are the two projects that I have been working on since my disappointment. The first one is a frilly face cloth that took only about 15 minutes to make.

The second it the first 12 rounds of the same centerpiece from my previous post but in a #10 sized thread instead of #3.

Well that is what I have been doing this week. Oh, before I forget. I also had another crochet class this week. My students are progressing well. They can now do slip stitch, foundation chain and also single crochets and turning their work. They are so pleased and so am I.

That is all for me. Remember to "Crochet a Memory"

Now for Something Totally Different

I am done with the scarves and decided today that I wanted to try my hand at thread work. I have started the Between Meal Centerpiece and it is coming along nicely. Sis is working one at the same time incase I have questions she can help me but, so far so good. Below is a photo of it. The color thread is #3 weights in Monet and it is Aunt Lydias. Very nice to work with.

I think I am going to like this thread work. I am nervous about trying this pattern with some Copper Mist #10. I just love the color.

*hugs* and Remember to "Crochet a Memory".

30 scarves total

I have finished up the last of the Olympic Yarn and have ended up with 13 scarves for the Special Olympics. I mailed out 5 scarves to The Red Scarf Project and 12 scarves to Scarves from the Heart.
I am done!! Woo hoo. Now to decide what to do next. I need yo get an afghan started for my nephew so I might start on that.

I hope that you all have a wonderful week!!

Yay!! Ghost is back.

Well it looks like her blog is fixed. Finally folks are able to read and comment. We are all tickled and hope to see many repeat visitors. We'd also like to thank all of you that left feedback. You were a great help in the finding the answer to the problem.

On a crochet note, I have reached 30 scarves. I've made that many since September 1st. I have maybe 2 more that I can get out of the Olympic yarn colors that I have. Not sure what my next project will be. I'm betting it will NOT be a scarf or even a shawl. LOL

I wish you all the best week and remember to "Crochet a Memory".

Ghost's blog working?

I think between my husband and I we have solved the problem!! YAY! If you have had trouble getting to her blog with Internet Explorer before please try it now. Please comment on her blog or mine to let us know if it is working for you.

Apparently one of the flash programs that sis had loaded was corrupting her blog and not allowing folks to enter. I am anxious to know if this worked for the rest of you. My husband is on a windows machine and he had trouble at first and could not access it and as soon as I deleted the "Smiley of the Moment" program it worked. So sis I did start with another program but that was not the one and I forget the name of it. The one with the pretty clock. You can add that one back but stay away from the other one.

Hugs to all of you and I am keeping my fingers crossed. LMK.

More about Scarves,,,,I warned ya!! :)

Below are photos are of the other 22 Scarves (11 for the Special Olympics and the other 11 to be donated to Scarves From The Heart, Pine Ridge and Knit Your Bit, The National World War II Museum. I have a total of 27 scarves tagged and bagged and have more olympic colors to use up so I am unsure of what my total count will be when I am finished. You can be sure that I will share that total with you here. )

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!! *HUGS*

Scarves, yes again. :)

I am going to do this entry in 2 posts. I could not sleep so I decided to make my tags for the scarves and get them bagged and ready to go. So that is indeed what I did. Here is a photo of one of the scarves with the tag I made.

I'm also adding the photo of the 5 scarves that I made for the Red Scarf Project all tagged and bagged.

Remember to keep Crocheting those Memories!!

Ghost's Blog

Hello to everyone and to those that are asking me about not being able to view my sisters blog. I have NO idea what is going on. Tonight I sat down and compared her settings with the settings on my blog and they are exactly the same. I did however put her blog on selected reader only for a moments and then put it back to "Anyone can view this blog". I am hoping that this resets the system and fixes the problem.

I am however positive that it has nothing to do with her computer. She is worried that she did something. I am almost positive that this is's fault. I have heard of other sites that have had the same troubles. Not sure how they fixed the problem or if they just gave up.

I am going to try and help her get to the bottom of this problem. I want to thank all of you for your comments and patience while we solve this issue.
