I'm still here/Contest

Its been awhile but I am still here. Sis is here and we are having fun. I am working on many projects as well as the Dr. Who scarf. I was not going to start one but since Sis did I could not resist. What's another project sitting around gonna hurt? *giggle* I just taught myself to knit so it will be good practice. I have never knitted in my life and with YouTube I taught myself. Never thought I could do it but here I am doing it. One thing I will say, "It's a SLOW process" Not like crocheting.

Anyway here is a project that I worked on before sis got here. I am going to use it on a pillow, maybe. I think it looks like a little girl with feathers all around her head. Maybe a young Indian girl. Click on the picture to make it bigger and have a look and tell me what you think.

I am Sponsoring a Contest so here are the DETAILS. Leave me comment and tell me your ideas on what I should do with this doll face. You have until next Monday, March 2, 2009 to submit your ideas. I will then pick an idea by the weeks end and the winner of that idea will get a care package from me with lots of craft goodies. The only idea that is off limits is a pillow, as that was my first intention.

So have fun and get those ideas in.

Hey you 2....waving, Just back in town. How fun for you both. I'm envious. Girl time, how awesome is that.

The face, ahhhhhhhh, she's adorable. I agree she looks like an Indian Women. I think specifically an Eskimo.

Oophs, forgot...what you should do with your doll face:
Crochet or sew a heavy brown with some beads cape. Put her in a shadow box; add a book, "Julie"...dang title just left me. Need to do some research and get back with you. Julie of the Wolves?

Auction them off here and send the money to your kitty charity, or more appropiately to Pine Hurst.

Hugs
You're amazing...have fun sisers.

OH I just love the face. she does look like an Indian or Eskimo. My grandma use to make stuff with those faces. She would make like a "skirt" and then a hanger. BUT that is not my idea, my brain is working right now, I think a Tote bag, with her on it, for a little girl. You could do it in different colors to look like a traditional Indian print. or even a purse for a little girl with it put on there.

Brooke has informed me that you should make a doll out of her. I have no idea how, unless maybe make a back for the head and stuff it some, then make a body, like a big ball or such and add it on there, she says she would put it on her bed.....So this is not an "entry" but your idea of a pillow come to mind, but not on it, but on top of it....I guess something like those bed dolls they make

Oh Wendy, that was going to be my idea. I immediately thought of a doll. It is so pretty. She should have a whole body. But since that idea is taken, when my kids were little I made crayon holders for them and I used a clown head, but this one would be pretty for a little girl. You would just add to the bottom a rectangle about the size of a small box of crayons. You can use your imagination for design and color. My first thought is to match her eyes, but not sure about the blue and brown together. Maybe combine the two in the crayon holder part. Then you could still auction it off if you want to. What little girl wouldn't want one of these? :-)

Oh, I didn't give good enough instructions. You would make a really long rectangle, but would have to fold it over and stitch the sides together to make the crayon box holder. By folding it over you would give it a bit more so the depth of the box so if you wanted to use a larger box of crayons, you could just make the rectangle larger. See what I mean?

I have really tried to wrack my brain to come up with something for your contest... I just love this little doll face! You do such beautiful work! These are my ideas...
1.)Attach the doll head on either a crocheted or piece of fabric square, towards one of the corners. (I think there is a pattern like this on Bev's Country Cottage using material) Attach either a crochet or fabric rectangle just below the head, filling it with fiberfill and stitching closed, for the body. Now you can fold the bottom corner up around the "body", fold the two corner sides in and fold the top down over the head, just like a blanket, but it is all in one.

2.)I'm also thinking it would be pretty on the side of a purse/crochet bag. A long, narrow purse/bag to be used for carrying yarn & needles around.
